Professional hair and makeup styling can be arranged for you at an additional fee, but outdoor family sessions with me are meant to be casual, relaxed, and perfectly imperfect! I embrace out-of-place hair and crooked smiles!

STYLE GUIDE
Your styling speaks volumes about you!
Make sure you say the right thing!
WHAT TO WEAR
-
With outdoor family sessions I love to see life! That means it's ok if things don't fit perfectly, bra straps show, hair flies across the face, or dresses get dirty. That said, if perfection matters to YOU, please test your clothes ahead of time. Retouching is an additional fee if you want things fixed in post!
-
Outdoor family sessions turn out the best (to me) if everyone in your group wears either bright and cheery or earthy and natural colors. So I prefer tones to be in pastel or neutral pallets. For pastels, think light pinks, whites, baby blues. For neutrals, think cream, tan, beige, olive greens. Make a choice, pastel or natural, and have everyone dress in those tones!
-
Solid colors or small patterns work best. Layering of colors looks amazing, too!
-
For women, bulges are no good, but so are overly draped, shapeless fabrics.
-
Belts, hates, jewelry and other accessories can make an image more interesting!
-
Avoid logos
-
Avoid wrinkled material, unless its a linen or other purposefully wrinkled material.
-
Know that if you wear material that is transparent or see-through, it WILL be see through!
-
Remove hair bands from wrists!
-
Test your clothing choices long before your shoot day to make sure it all works!
-
Bring alternates with you on the day of the shoot in case of a wardrobe malfunction.
-
Make sure your clothing is free of lint and hair BEFORE coming to your shoot!
HOW TO PREP
-
Fresh and clean makeup is best. Your face should look like you, but how you like to see yourself the best.
-
Bring lipstick or lip balm.
-
DON'T WEAR A TIGHT FITTING MASK or GLASSES right before the shoot. They may create lines/indentations on your face.
-
Try to style your hair in a way that you recognize as you. Style it as if you were going to a semi-formal party and you want to look nice, but still you!
-
Hair can be up or down, but make sure it is clean and brushed (or tamed in some way if you have the kind of hair that can't be brushed).
